For the first time Kent cigarettes, the types of which are today varied, were presented to the world in spring in 1952: then the company Lorilard Tobacco Company released its production.
The cigarettes of 70 mm had a filter made of asbestos and had a rather bland taste. Once researchers proved that asbestos promotes bronchogenic carcinoma, filters were replaced with non-asbestos – Micronite.
Now, only the carbon filters are used in Kent cigarettes. In 70 the British American Tobacco Group decided to purchase the brand, and the sale of “Kent” began not only in the US but also in the other countries.
Kent cigarettes were originally positioned as light, but for every smoker percentage of lightness is a relative concept, manufacturers decided to mark cigarette numbers – 1, 4, 8, differing percentage of tar content.
Because of this, each user can select a specific type of product for oneself. Currently, cigarette brands are purchased in more than 70 countries. The production of “Kent” today occupies a leading position in the premium class, not only in Russia but also in many other countries.
Kent cigarettes now have many versions.
Kent Nanotek appeared on the market in 2007. Carbon filter, consisting of 2 sections, was replaced by a unique Taste +.
It has a length of 83 mm and a diameter of 5 mm. The category is divided into several subcategories, differing in packaging design and, of course, the percentage of tar and nicotine. It has a bright flavor, emphasizing the beneficial quality of tobacco used:
Kent Nanotek Blue – content: tar – 6 mg and 0.5 mg of nicotine per unit. It looks like a thin pack of black color with blue stripes on the sides.
Kent Nanotek Silver – content: tar – 4 mg and 0.4 mg of nicotine per unit. The pack is of black color with dark gray stripes. They are not light and not strong, and they often selected by consumer.
Kent Nanotek White – content: tar – 1 mg and 0.1 mg of nicotine per unit. The package is of a black color with light gray strips. The lightest version of the line: the above described form contains the minimum proportion of harmful substances.
All versions of “Kent” since the founding of the company are considered to be light and have a delicate flavor.
In society there is a perception that the so-called light types cause less harm to health than strong ones.
It would seem that it is so: in the light Kent cigarettes, for example, the percentage of tar and nicotine is significantly lower than in the other ones, it turns out that the body gets less harmful substances.
